Surprise!

Mexico, here we come!  On Sunday the 15th, we surprised the kids and told them we were going to take them to Mexico in October.  We told them by showing them some pictures on the TV that Brad had downloaded; pictures of a plane, the place we were going to stay, the beach and so on.  Needless to say, they were pretty excited and are now counting down the days(45).  What's funny is that a day or so before we told them, Adam was commenting on how we never get to go anywhere on a plane that's warm and sunny like Mexico or Hawaii. We just get to go to Utah and Raymond (not that we don't love going to Utah and Raymond.  I guess they are not exotic enough for Adam).  I had to try and keep from smiling because of course I already knew we were going.  We are going to stay at an all-inclucive resort called Dreams Puerto Aventuras (pictured here), just south of Cancun.  We leave on October 9th and return on the 16th.  Jenny has never flown before, Amy not since she was a baby, and Billy and Adam when we flew home from Rochester in 2003 when Adam was 2 and Billy was 5.  That will be half the adventure.  Here is the reaction.

I can hardly wait!!

Cousins Party

On Saturday, August 14, Brads family decided to get together for a little cousins reunion.  Brad got up early and headed out to Lake Bonavista to try and secure us a shelter.  He arrived around 8:30am only to find one person had been there since 7:15 and the other since a litttle before 8:00.  Oh well!  What more can you do?  So he just spread out the stuff over three picnic tables and settled in to wait for the rest of us to arrive.  We arrive around 11:30 and it was kind of chilly at first with the wind, but as everyone else started arriving, it started to warm up a bit and I think a great time was had by all.  Digging in the sand, swims in the (cold) lake, canoe rides, beach volleyball, bocce ball, hot dogs and hamburgers on the grill and lots to eat and drink.  It was great and the weather turned fantastic near the end of the day.  I think they decided to make it a yearly event.

It didn't matter that Jenny did not know these cousins, she just started digging.

Spa Party

On Friday, August 13th, Brad took the boys out to see a boy movie so the girls and I decided to have a girls night of our own.  They had a foot bath while I trimmed and filed their nail and then they decided a foot bath was not enough and a soak in moms jetted tub was more like it.  The girls thoroughly enjoyed it.  Afterwards, I painted their finger and toe nails and then we told princess stories to each other till it was time for bed.  All told, we had a good night.  Not bad for Friday the 13th.

Our First Triathlon

On August 7th 2010, Brad, myself, Billy and Adam did Raymond's first triathlon which was also our first.  We participated in the super sprint category which was a 200 meter swim, 10 km bike, and 5 km run.  We had a lot of fun and I think we all did a great job even though we didn't have racing bikes, just plain old mountain bikes.  Out of 26, Brad came in 6th, I came in 10th, Billy came in 23rd and Adam 24th but they were just two out of three their age that did the super sprint; the rest of the 12 and unders did the kids.  These were our overall times: Brad - 46:36.70; Rebecca - 47:38.45; Billy - 59:08.60; Adam - 59:20.65.  Maybe we will make this an annual event.

I was getting really frustrated with putting pictures on here so I just put the one.  Maybe I will put more on later.

Henderson Lake

After we finished at the Zoo on Thursday, we all packed up our bags and went to Raymond.  After waiting out a storm on Friday, we went to Henderson Lake in Lethbridge.  We had a picnic lunch, played at the park and then taking pictures in trees became the theme of the day.
